Filing Deadline for Calendar Year Corporation and S Corporation Returns and Extensions is March 15, 2010

The IRS filing deadline for calendar year Corporation and S Corporation returns and extensions for tax year 2009 is March 15, 2010. Timely e-filing of returns/extensions must be transmitted to the Intuit Electronic Filing Center by 11:59 p.m. on March 15, 2010, in the ERO's time zone.

Electronically filed returns that are timely filed and rejected can be corrected and retransmitted by the later of the due date of the return or 10 calendar days from the date the rejection was issued by the IRS. (Starting with the 2010 processing year, the perfection period changed from 20 days to 10 days.) For more information, please view the KB Article.

Frequently Asked Questions IRS Letters and Visits to Return Preparers - 2010 Filing Season

The IRS has issued new answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs) about IRS's current return preparer compliance campaign involving 10,000 "reminder" letters and "thousands" of in-person follow-up visits. The letters and visits have stirred controversy because they coincide with the busiest time of year for preparers.
