New Homebuyer Credit Form Released; Taxpayers Reminded to Attach Settlement Statement and Other Key Documents

On January 15, 2010, the IRS issued News Release IR-2010-6, announcing that they released the new form that eligible homebuyers need to claim the first-time homebuyer credit this tax season and announced processing of those tax returns will begin in mid-February. IRS Proposes New Registration, Testing and Continuing Education Requirements for Tax Return Preparers Not Already Subject to Oversight

Exception for NY Fiduciary e-File Mandate for Lacerte and ProSeries Customers for TY09

New York Fiduciary Users: New York has issued a mandatory e-file requirement for all return types filed beginning on January 1, 2010. Lacerte and ProSeries do not support 1041(Fiduciary) e-filing for TY09.

There is an exception for the mandate for Lacerte and ProSeries 1041 customers for TY09. This means that if customers have purchased software that does not support e-filing for 1041, they will be able to still paper file this form for TY09. For more information, please view the KB Article.
