Did you know that ProSeries has several short cuts for finding answers that can reduce your need to call and wait on hold?

There are several tools available in ProSeries that will help you be more productive:

  • Looking for a specific form? Click , enter search text, and click a search result to go directly to the appropriate form. (This feature is only available in the federal 1040 and 1065 products.)
  • Looking for additional screen or field level help? Click in any data entry field and press F1 on your keyboard to open help topics specific to the current field and form or view an article in the About section in the top left corner of the application.
  • Want to ask Intuit a specific question? Enter a question in the entry field and click Ask to have the Intuit Virtual Agent, IVA, guide you to an answer, knowledgebase article, or connect you to a live online chat agent.
  • Want access to over 1 million articles, documents, expert summaries, and more? Purchase Tax Research powered by BNA and have the ability to do advanced research from within ProSeries and attach articles to client files.
  • Interested in finding out how your peers handle similar situations? Use the in-product or online Live Community to ask your peers questions and search existing discussions.

New York Fiduciary E-File Mandate Exception

New York Fiduciary: New York has issued a mandatory e-file requirement for all return types filed beginning on January 1, 2010. ProSeries does not support 1041 (Fiduciary) e-filing for TY09. There is an exception for the e-file mandate for 1041 customers for TY09. If customers have purchased software that does not support e-filing for 1041, they will be able to still paper file this form for TY09. For more information, please view the KB Article.

News from the Internal Revenue Service

IRS Extends Deadlines in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, West Virginia, and New Jersey Flood Regions

Residents of certain counties of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, West Virginia, and New Jersey that are victims of severe storms, flooding, mud slides and land slides may qualify for tax relief from the Internal Revenue Service. The IRS is postponing until May 11 certain deadlines for taxpayers who reside or have a business in the declared disaster areas. For more information, please view the KB Article.


New for 2010: Tax Credit Helps Small Employers Provide Health Insurance Coverage

On April 1, 2010, the IRS issued News Release IR-2010-38, announcing that many small businesses and tax-exempt organizations that provide health insurance coverage to their employees now qualify for a special tax credit... For more information, please visit the IRS Web site.


IRS Error Reject Code 1132: Schedule M

Error Reject Code 1132 occurs when the amount of the Economic Recovery Payment reported on Line 10 of the Schedule M does not match a data file that identifies if an agency (SSA, RRB or VA) issued an Economic Recovery Payment to the taxpayer(s) in 2009. For more information, please view the KB Article.

The IRS has posted a new Did I Receive a 2009 Economic Recovery Payment? tool on their Web site. Taxpayers can use this tool to determine whether or not they received this payment.
